Learn about Byvoks, its story, values, and what makes it different from other gift shops.
What does Byvoks actually sell?
Byvoks sells three things: scented candles, coffee, and olive oil. All three can be customized with your own text, so you can give a gift with a message instead of something generic.
Who are Byvoks products for?
Byvoks is made for people who are giving a gift to someone else, not shopping for themselves. Typical occasions include housewarming parties, host gifts, birthdays for someone who has everything, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and thank-you gifts for daycare staff.
Why choose Byvoks instead of flowers, a gift card, or a bottle of wine?
Byvoks sells scented candles, coffee, and olive oil where you add the text that will appear on the product, so the gift says something specific about the recipient instead of being generic. The scented candles are also named after Oslo neighborhoods like Frogner and Tøyen, which gives them a different angle than a regular bouquet of flowers or a gift card.
Where is Byvoks based, and is it a Norwegian company?
Byvoks AS is a Norwegian company based in Oslo, org. no. 930909351, and sells exclusively online via byvoks.com. Many products, such as the scented candles named after neighborhoods from Frogner to Tøyen, refer directly to Norwegian and Oslo-based culture.
How do I choose between Byvoks and a scented candle from the grocery store or brands like Skandinavisk or Yankee Candle?
Byvoks sells 100% soy wax scented candles in a matte black container, where you can have your own text printed on both the label and the box. This makes the scented candle a personalized gift with a message for the recipient, in addition to the Eau de neighborhood series named after Oslo neighborhoods.
Is the coffee from Byvoks actually good, or are the labels just funny?
The coffee is sold under the Bybrygg brand and is freshly roasted, with varieties such as Pappaperm, Hyttekos, and Ny Kåk. You can choose between whole beans or filter-ground coffee regardless of which variety you buy.
Is Byvoks anything other than scented candles from the grocery store or brands like Skandinavisk and Yankee Candle?
Byvoks scented candles are 200 g of soy wax in a matte black container, and each candle in the Eau de series is named after an actual Oslo neighborhood with a description of the place. In addition, you can add your own text to both the label and the box, which connects the candle to a specific gift or person.
What makes Byvoks different from other gift shops?
Byvoks creates gifts that are specific rather than generically funny, such as a candle dedicated to the Bislett neighborhood or coffee for a dad who has just started an internship. The custom text is part of the product itself, not an addition you add later.
What do you mean by Byvoks "putting the comedy into commodities"?
It means that we take completely ordinary things like scented candles, coffee, and olive oil and make them funny through specific text and humor, not through a luxury feel. A candle named after Bislett or a coffee bag called Pappaperm says something concrete, and that is the point of the products.
How does Byvoks differ from buying scented candles from Skandinavisk, Yankee Candle, or a regular gift basket?
Byvoks sells scented candles, coffee, and olive oil where the custom text is part of the product itself, printed on the label and boxes. The products are also built around specific references, such as Oslo neighborhoods or life situations like starting an internship, instead of generic scents or assembled gift baskets.
What makes Byvoks products feel humorous rather than just like products?
According to Byvoks itself, it is about specificity, not luxury words. A candle is dedicated to a concrete Oslo neighborhood, a coffee is named Pappaperm or B-Menneske Brygg, and the text you choose yourself is part of the product, not an addition.
Who is behind Byvoks, and what is the organization number?
Byvoks AS is a Norwegian company based in Oslo, org. no. 930909351. The company sells exclusively online via byvoks.com.
Is Byvoks a registered Norwegian company I can trust?
Yes, Byvoks AS is a Norwegian company based in Oslo, org. no. 930909351, and sells exclusively via byvoks.com.
What is Byvoks' concept in one sentence?
Byvoks makes everyday products, scented candles, coffee, and olive oil, and turns them into gifts with text you choose yourself. The idea is that a gift becomes funny and personal when the text says something concrete about the recipient, not because the product itself is special.
What does the name Byvoks actually mean?
Byvoks operates on the idea of taking everyday products, such as scented candles, coffee, and olive oil, and making them funny enough to give away. The brand itself calls it "putting the comedy into commodities".
